This winter, we will continue to explore the authentic and beautiful part of the southern Alps, Vallée Maïra. Here, time stands still, far from the big resorts.
Our first base will be in a small hamlet, where some century-old farms have been recently renovated in beautiful Alpine style. “Relais Alpino” is a cocoon: very peaceful and welcoming, with traditional local food and a good cellar. Our host understands the expectations of skiers returning from the summits. A relaxing spa is also available.
One night will be in a beautiful refuge/Lodge “viviere” only accessible on skis in winter time
Last night in the hamlet of Elva in a cosy lodge.
Each day, we will choose a new area depending on the conditions. Some routes start directly from the accommodation, while others require an average of 30 to 45 minutes of driving.
The potential for routes is wide, as is the variety of terrain, ranging from forested areas, mostly larch trees, to Alpine terrain.
Our tours often start from a typical hamlet or village, and we will do our best to create loop routes wherever possible.
The Piedmont area can receive significant snowfall due to its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea (Gulf of Genoa). March is usually the spring skiing season , but, as everywhere, we must rely on some luck. The effects of global warming are a new reality in the Alps!
The skiing days are starting early, this time of year.
Our guest are aware about ski tourers needs and will prepare delicious breakfasts.
